Manami and i have been in Okinawa since friday, doing a little island hopping.

on our first full day, in Iriomote, we did some canoeing though a small river  / mangrove and finished up with a visit to ‘Hoshi no suna’ beach. this place is well known for the tiny star shaped sand that makes up the beach.

today we did some snorkeling, and we were fortunate to see all kinds of amazing marine life; sea turtles, a sea snake, namako (a kind of sea cucumber, that I can best describe as looking like something that slithered off a cronenberg set), and last but not least, an enermous conger eel.

Iriomote is great, we could easily spend more time here, but we’re off to the next island — Hateruma. on the boat right now actually, bouncing around all over the place as the water is a little choppy. Hateruma is supposed to be even more remote than Iriomote. looking forward to it!
